Routes / several-day trips

SwitzerlandMobility international, national and regional routes are a selection of the most attractive routes for several-day tours in Switzerland. They have been arranged in consultation with the cantonal and municipal authorities and the Swiss federal and cantonal environmental authorities. All routes are signposted (see also signalization).

The routes, particularly the international, national and regional routes and also many highlights are suitable for several-day tours.

Sections / day excursions

The routes are divided into one-day stages and are therefore ideal for day excursions, as stage destinations (see places) and as a rule are easily reached by public transport.

Highlights

Highlights are the most attractive sections on the SwitzerlandMobility international, national and regional routes.

back

International routes

International routes are long-distance routes, such as the ViaJacobi in Hiking in Switzerland or the EuroVelo Route 6 Atlantic-Black Sea.

National routes

Generally national routes cross through a large part of Switzerland and are indicated by one-digit numbers.

back

Regional routes

Regionale Routen führen in der Regel über mehrere Kantone und sind zweistellig nummeriert.

For the opening of SwitzerlandMobility, an initial selection of the most attractive regional routes were signposted as so-called «Highlights» and so to a great extent the regional routes coincide with Highlights.

Local offers

Requirements

Requirements are divided into conditions and technique. They are defined differently for each form of non-motorized traffic. These definitions are to be understood as guidelines and may vary from information given on the signalization . (Download pdf manual).

back

Length

The length of a route or section is given in kilometres.

back

Height difference

Height differences are based on the terrain model of the Federal Office of Topography and a formula of SwitzerlandMobility and represent the total ascent of a route or section. This can vary from the effective height difference in the actual terrain and figures are generally rounded off.

back

Height profil

Height profiles are drawn with a height-increase factor of 10 in order to make them as legible as possible. The scale chosen is not the same for all routes or sections for reasons of presentation and the great differences in route distances.
